Esin Akan designs convertible leather handbags for urban women that help them adapt every scenario from work to evening, weekday to weekend and look elegant and stylish at all times.

Having worked for Burberry and Anya Hindmarch, Esin Akan launched her eponymous London based label in 2012 during her MBA at London Business School. Graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, the brand has won many awards – most recent one is The Best Designer Bag Brand UK | 2017, Global Excellence Award. The brand has been featured by well-known magazines including Vogue, Elle, The Times and have been publicized with Meghan Markle. Having done many pop-ups in collaboration with other emerging brands in London such as Mayfair and Chelsea, Esin Akan’s reputation in making high quality, minimalist, practical bags spread to the U.S. last year through her collaboration with Macy’s. The pop-ups within Macy’s affluent stores in the US have been so successful the brand will start selling at macys.com in November 2019.

As the brand established its own presence through their online store esinakan.com, demand to see the bags in real have also increased. Putting the customer in the heart of the design process, a physical space where the design team could interact with customers became a must for the brand. This is why the brand opened its first mono store in Covent Garden, a hub where independent brands flourish. The store is home to their design studio as well. Unlike any other store, you will be assisted by designers who take the customer feedback and create new designs just in time. The process of bringing new designs to life is about a month, which is very competitive for the industry standards. Esin Akan makes limited stock in every style, which makes the bags very desirable and exclusive. The bags are made in Turkey with bespoke first quality calf leather by experienced craftsmen that make bags for well-established designer brands. The prices range between £100 and £500. The brand has lots of exciting projects for the store including “Create Your Dream Bag” in collaboration with influencers and the customers in the store.

The brand supports sustainable practices by using leathers that are bi-product of the food industry and work with certified ateliers that respect employees and the environment. Part of every sale made is donated to Unicef, Save The Children and Women’s Scholarship Funds at London Business School and UCLA to support women come to leadership positions worldwide.
